The APCO Institute designated public safety's first Registered-Public Safety Leaders (RPL) at the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International's 73rd Annual Conference and Exposition earlier this month in Baltimore, Md.
The APCO Institute's Leadership Certificate Program is a comprehensive 12-month online program that leads to the professional designation of Registered Public-Safety Leader. This program provides aspiring leaders within public safety communications the knowledge and skill sets to achieve excellence.
This group of 40 Registered Public-Safety Leaders represents diversity within the public safety communications industry, said APCO in a release. The participants were from various regions of the country representing personnel from every facet of the public safety communications industry from the front-line call takers and dispatchers to the executive level.
"This was a commendable accomplishment for these individuals who have exhibited dedication to the public safety industry by participating in APCO Institute's Leadership Certificate Program," APCO International President Willis Carter said. "This group demonstrated the vision, desire, motivation and commitment to attain the necessary skills to lead our industry with confidence and integrity."
