FirstNet Approves $1 Million for Outreach Plan and User Advocacy Efforts

March 21, 2013 By

In its March 18 meeting, the Board of FirstNet, the first nationwide interoperable wireless broadband network, approved the hiring of the first General Manager, but the selected person’s identity will be kept confidential while Board Chairman Sam Ginn performs the necessary background check processes, given the importance of the position for national public safety.

In addition, the Board authorized $1 million of additional funding to help with the implementation of FirstNet’s outreach plan and user advocacy efforts, and authorized an updated Fiscal 2013 budget and a Fiscal 2014 budget request to go to the Department of Commerce and the Office of Management and Budget.
