Kentucky Awards Grant for Emergency Response System

November 16, 2004 By

The Kentucky Science & Engineering Foundation and the Public Safety and Security Institute for Technology awarded PlanGraphics Inc. a grant to develop an Internet-enabled emergency response system for the Kentucky Chemical Stockpile Preparedness Program (CSEPP).

Spatial Templates for Emergency Preparedness (STEPs) methodology and software tools will be used to produce a prototype interoperable Internet portal for CSEPP over a 10-month period. Development of the emergency preparedness and response interoperability solution is considered to be a foundational activity that will give Kentucky CSEPP and its federal and U.S. Army agency and local government partners immediate access to a large range of mission-critical data and multiple applications needed to improve planning and enhance incident response by all CSEPP partners.

The prototype project will demonstrate both the procedures for designing an interoperability solution and the efficacy of the STEPs enterprise portal architecture and software.
