NYC Department of Corrections Selects Security Patch Management

Software to Manage Hotfixes, Patches, Service Packs for Networks

NEW YORK -- The New York City Department of Corrections and Probation has purchased St. Bernard's UpdateEXPERT patch management software to support network protection agencywide. The government bureau will apply the software to enforce software security policies and manage hotfixes, patches and service packs for its networks.

The software replaces the labor- and time-intensive manual patch management system the Department of Correction was previously using. UpdateEXPERT effectively manages, tests and validates the increasing number of Windows patches released on a regular basis. Featuring a third-party metadatabase of patch information and instructions, the software recommends which patches it can safely deploy based on customer-defined lists of required patches.

The automated patch management tool includes an optional agent feature to provide system administrators with flexibility to manage patches in the most optimal manner for their organization's unique computing environment. UpdateEXPERT also incorporates other features that address the needs of large enterprises and organizations, including integration with HP OpenView, disconnected network support and custom reporting options.
