Napolitano Calls for Review of DHS Efficiency

February 17, 2009 By

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has directed DHS agencies, components and offices to conduct an efficiency review intended to promote greater accountability, transparency and customer satisfaction.

The directive requires each agency to initiate an internal review of current efforts related to improving efficiency, which will be incorporated into a department-wide inventory.

The Efficiency Review Initiative Steering Committee, composed of key office and component leadership, will be established to coordinate this DHS-wide initiative. The steering committee, which will have its initial meeting before the end of the month, will identify and develop strategies to reduce costs, streamline processes, eliminate duplication and improve transparency and customer service.
