Obama Administration to Propose Federal Takeover of Light-Rail, Subway Safety

Federal proposal would put light-rail and subway safety -- such as San Francisco's Bay Area Rapid Transit (pictured) -- under federal oversight.

According to an article in Sunday's Washington Post, the Obama administration will propose federal oversight of safety on all U.S. subway and light-rail systems. The article called state control "haphazard and ineffective," following recent "collisions, derailments and worker fatalities."
