Which country has the fastest average Internet speed?

Answer: South Korea

While you may feel frustrated about the lag time for your Internet, just remember, it could always be worse.

Last week, Akamai released its quarterly State of the Internet report, chronicling countrywide average Internet speeds, rates of broadband adoption and mobile connectivity, among others. South Korea again reigns supreme with residents’ Internet speeds averaging 28.6 Mbps. For context, the United States averages 18.7 Mbps and ranks 10 overall.

The report also breaks down Internet speeds state by state. While Delaware is home to the most rapid Internet connection, Washington, D.C., ekes out ahead — and California doesn't even rank in the top 10.
