According to a spokesperson for James Clapper, director of national intelligence, the official's personal information and family accounts had been compromised. Clapper’s personal email, home telephone, home Internet, and his wife’s Yahoo email were included in the attack, The Verge reported.
The hacker also forwarded all of the official's home phone calls to Paul Larudee, the co-founder of the Free Palestine Movement. How the hack was accomplished is unknown, but some estimate that social engineering techniques were used, just as they were in the Brennan case.
