What is the only thing a Harvard Medical School researcher says would be needed to create a Neanderthal baby?

Answer: an "adventurous" woman as a surrogate

But that doesn't mean he's taking out a want ad.

According to numerous reports in the last few days, Professor George Church of Harvard Medical School said he believes he could recreate the extinct relative of mankind -- and that he is in search for a woman who will carry the unique baby.

But that's not quite right, the Huffington Post reports. Church told the news outlet that those reports are based on misunderstandings of an interview he gave to a German magazine, which approached him to talk about his recent book, Regenesis: How Synthetic Biology Will Reinvent Nature and Ourselves.

Church told the Huffington Post that in the book, the idea of bringing back Neanderthals gets brief mention as a theoretical possibility, and refers to an "adventurous" woman -- to point out that the process would require a woman who would have to be quite adventurous.

"It said you're going to need someone like that if you're going to do it," he said. "It's certainly very different from taking out a want ad."
