What material is cheaper and stronger than cement?

Answer: Cortex

Four layers of fabric make up Cortex, a rollable concrete material made by Cortex Composites that’s activated by water.

The top layer is a water-soluble fabric that holds the cement mixture layer below in place during installation. Beneath the cement layer is a mesh mat, which is above a waterproof membrane.

The company says the material is twice as strong as concrete, despite using less material, and costs $4.50 per square foot, which can be cheaper than concrete in some instances. The material is marketed as an ideal solution for areas that require only thin layers of cement, like around drainage ditches and canal beds.
