Answer: Hawaii and California, respectively

Accoding to recent findings from Public Policy Polling (PPP), Americans generally have a favorable view of most states, but see Hawaii the most positively (only 10 percent see the Aloha State in a negative light). Only five states are seen as negative, and California tops the list with 44 percent of voters seeing the state unfavorably. See the national survey results at the PPP website
