Which animal species has become the latest to inadvertently set up a pretty good selfie?

Answer: Penguins.

Eddie Gault, a researcher from the Australian Antarctic Division, discovered some delightful footage on his camera after he set it on the ground near the Auster Rookery in Antarctica. Gault had set the device to record, and two emperor penguins let curiosity get the better of them when they discovered it. They proceeded to knock it over and then stand over it as they examined it, resulting in some pretty amusing footage.

Since it was Gault who initiated the recording, rather than the penguins themselves, the footage may not technically count as a selfie. But there’s no denying the emperors’ skills when it comes to posing, whether or not they actually pressed the shutter button.
