Who will be providing personalized highlight reels for the upcoming Masters tournament?

Answer: IBM’s AI, Watson.

The Masters golf tournament kicks off in Augusta, Ga., April 5 and so too will a new way to stay up to date on all the latest action. This year, the tournament is turning to artificial intelligence to give followers a daily personalized highlight reel.

The new feature, called My Moments, will be available on the Masters website and Masters app via a single-sign-on system. Watson will watch footage of the tournament looking for the beginning and end of a golfer’s shot. It will then determine who the golfer is and look for clues, such as fist pumps and crowd volume, to determine how exciting or extraordinary the shot was. This data will decide if it is worthy of inclusion in a particular highlight reel.
