Which famous text has been proposed in recent legislation to become the official Louisiana state book?

Answer: the Bible

A house municipal committee advanced legislation on April 10, voting 8-5, that would make “the good book” the Louisiana's official state book.

After concerns of a possible First Amendment violation, Rep. Thomas Carmody maintained that the legislation would not mean the state was endorsing Christianity over any other religion. Rep. Wesley Bishop, who voted against the measure, disagreed and said the state is opening itself up to a lawsuit.
