What is Swedish Designer Oskar Pernefeldt proposing?

Answer: an international flag of planet Earth

Oskar Pernefeldt proposed as part of a graduation project at Beckmans College of Design that the world adopt a flag that space explorers can use to show unity for planet Earth.

“Current expeditions in outer space use different national flags depending on which country is funding the voyage,” the website reads. “The space travelers, however, are more than just representatives of their own countries. They are representatives of planet Earth.”

The design uses the color blue to represent Earth’s water, while seven interlocking rings form a flower to represent life. A video explains how the design was conceived.
