What service will you soon be able to hail from your phone in New York City?

Answer: a mobile bathroom

Have you ever needed to go on the go and there seemed to be no public bathrooms available and all the stores nearby had restrooms for PAYING customers only? It's not a fun experience. Thankfully, the good folks at Charmin, home to the humanoid bears who instruct users on proper toilet paper technique, are piloting Van-Go, essentially an Uber for pooping, in New York City.

If you're stranded on the streets and have the urge to relieve yourself, simply bust out your smartphone, visit their website and a mobile trailer will arrive to your location equipped with a porcelain throne.

The two-day pilot, June 21-22, is free so users can test the service. Participants enter name, age and phone number, and, according to Charmin's website, the van should be there in five to 10 minutes, depending on traffic. The bathroom sits stationary while in use, and afterward is cleaned by staff and then is off to the next request. It could be the solution to the problem of public restrooms that has long plagued cities, forcing public agencies to spend resources deploying sanitation crews.
