By tagging unwitting burglars with a unique artificial DNA sequence, it becomes possible for law enforcement to trace a criminal back to the scene of a crime, should he later be caught. Developed by Applied DNA Sciences, the technology is now being used by SmokeCloak, a Danish security firm that makes fog machines for warehouses.
