The FDA recently approved a smartphone- and tablet-enabled heart monitor that allows doctors to continuously monitor patients with non-lethal cardiac arrhythmias, SpringWise.com reported.

The system -- called the BodyGuardian RMS -- lets patients who need to be watched to stay at home rather in the hospital. The device also has a button that notifies the doctor when they feel discomfort.
