What kind of groups are using facial recognition to track their members?

Answer: churches

At least 30 churches from around the world — in the U.S., Portugal, Africa and India — are using facial recognition software to track congregants who miss services.

By accessing a database of photographs and images taken from CCTV footage, church leaders can identify which members are not attending and contact them to find out why. The system also allows the church to ensure that those who have been banned from attending are not sneaking in. The International Business Times published a detailed report on the software, which is called Churchix.
