What is 'The New Town'?

Answer: an art project that uses a surveillance camera

Andrew Hammerand found an unsecured 360-degree camera used for surveillance in a Midwestern town, which he has not identified, and began controlling it remotely to watch the town’s inhabitants.

Hammerand said he’s never visited the town, but after months of spying on the townspeople, he reported feeling unsettled about what he was doing. The photos collected for The New Town exhibit will be shown at the Open Society Foundation in New York until September.
