Energy produced by natural gas is on the decline and coal power is on the rise, according to a report released by the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Coal power was responsible 39.5 percent of the nation’s power in the first four months of 2013, up from 35.4 percent in 2012. Carbon emissions decreased by 3.9 percent in 2012, and are expected to rise 2.4 percent this year, and another 0.6 percent in 2014, according to the EIA.
