What long-held technological truth was predicted to change in 10 years?

Answer: Moore's Law

Former Intel Chief Architect Bob Colwell delivered the keynote address at the Hot Chips conference on Aug. 25 and predicted that semiconductor complexity growth will hit a wall in about 10 years. By the year 2022, he said, Moore's Law, a fairly accurate estimation that the number of transistors on integrated circuits doubles every 18 months or so, will no longer be true. Breakthroughs in the next 10 years could prove Colwell wrong, but there are other hardware engineers who have agreed with his prediction.
