What well-known safety technology could help protect your smartphone?

While Honda floats the idea in a promotional video for a new line of small cars, they're not actually making an airbag-equipped smartphone case. There does seem to be something to the idea, though. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, along with co-inventor Greg Hart, patented the idea back in 2010. The Smartphone Case N includes six small airbags around the phone, which deploy when the device detects that it is in freefall. Gizmag predicts that if the cases can be small enough and cheap enough, they may soon be available for consumers.
