How do you get a robot to act like a human?

Answer: Put a human in a robot costume.

A very human-like robot that recently appeared on Russian television wasn’t a robot at all — it was just a human in a costume.

Called Boris, the robot appeared at a youth forum on technology in Moscow, which was being covered by the nationwide news channel Russia-24. Boris reportedly performed some pretty impressive dance moves for a robot and spoke using an electronic voice.

Suspicion soon arose when some pointed out online that the “robot” had no sensors and made some very un-robotic movements. According to Digital Trends, it has been suggested that the forum never stated that Boris was a robot, but the way in which it was presented led many viewers to believe that they were watching a fully automated robot. Boris is actually a product of costume maker Gusak Lab.
