What are the odds of a white Christmas in your city this year?

Answer: check the data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

A heat (or cold) map uses historical data (1981-2010) from U.S. Climate Normals from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Climatic Data Center to anticipate the probability of snowfall on Christmas Day.

Some residents of Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Maine and northern New York have nearly a 100 percent chance of seeing greater than 1 inch of snow on the ground on Christmas, while the rest of the country has to take its chances, and the South will have to watch videos of snow on YouTube.

The data comes from 9,800 weather stations around the nation. The map doesn’t take into consideration this year’s weather patterns, so the only way to know for sure is to wait and see.
