Denver Goes Wireless

An agreement between Ricochet Networks and Denver will give the city use of 1,000 wireless modems.

DENVER - Fire, police and emergency medical personnel could benefit tremendously from wireless technology that will give police quick access to suspect photos, criminal backgrounds and alert bulletins.

An agreement between the city and Ricochet Networks will result in the use of 1,000 wireless modems and unlimited service to the city's law enforcement and public safety agencies.

City and county agencies will use the modems and service for a one-year trial basis, and then evaluate whether to continue the partnership. Free service will be provided for the length of the partnership.

The technology will give police a big advantage in missing children's cases because now, a picture can be scanned into the system and be at an officer's disposal immediately.
