Breaking New Ground

Network separation security device from Tenix Datagate becomes world's first to undergo evaluation for EAL7 rating

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Interactive Link from Tenix Datagate has become the world's first product to undergo evaluation for Evaluation Assurance Level 7 (EAL7). EAL7 is the highest security certification possible under the Common Criteria, an international standard for IT security evaluation.

Evaluation guidelines are established through the Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme, which operates under the auspice of the National Information Assurance Partnership, a joint program of the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the National Security Agency.

EAL7 certification would enable the Interactive Link to be used in the most secure government, military and intelligence networks, as well as for commercial organizations that recognize the value of their information and require absolute information protection. Until now, no product on the market has met the stringent requirements to begin the EAL7 evaluation process.

Tenix Datagate has a history of breaking new ground in the security certification arena. In addition to being the first considered for an EAL7 rating, Interactive Link was the among first information security products in the world to achieve E6 certification under the Information Technology Security Evaluation and Certification Scheme (ITSEC). E6 is the highest possible level under ITSEC, which is widely recognized throughout Europe and the UK.

"We're committed to designing the world's most secure products and beginning the NIAP's evaluation process is further independent recognition of our efforts to deliver on that commitment," said Terry Whelan, vice-president of Tenix Datagate. "As long as there is another step on the certification ladder to take, we will take it.
