Florida Department of Law Enforcement Deploys Messaging System

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) needed to replace its existing message switch access workstation software.

The department will install Diverse Computing's eAgent Client Messaging System, which will provide Florida law enforcement agencies with access to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS), Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC II) and various other state systems.

The eAgent system employs Java, XML and XMPP technologies enabling public safety officers to connect to message switch systems using a Web-based GUI interface. The nation's criminal information systems are networked together to provide law enforcement access to accurate, timely information. The environment of law enforcement is constantly changing to address new laws and regulations, which puts a strain on the IT network. The new system is designed to ease this process by providing automatic updates to end-users from a central location.

"I am excited about the capabilities this Web-based software gives us in providing criminal justice agencies in the state of Florida better access to timely criminal justice information," said Kristal Pickel, data processing manager with FDLE. "The new software will provide FDLE the flexibility to implement changes more efficiently and will help us keep up with a growing user community."
