Kent Launches Payment System

The Washington city teams with Class Software Solutions on an Integrated Payment System.

VANCOUVER, BC - Class Software Solutions (Class), a leading provider of software and consulting services to community agencies, today announced that the City of Kent, WA has launched its Class CitiServe integrated payment system.

Located south of Seattle and serving a population of 84,000, the City of Kent has been using Class CentrServe software for its Parks & Recreation department since 1999. Now with Class CitiServe, Kent staff can process payments for many city bills and fees such as
utility bills, building permits, business licenses and local improvement district fees with one desktop application.

"Introducing Class CitiServe is leading us to re-think the relationships among departments and create new efficiencies that couldn't exist without integration," says Tom Vetsch, Customer Service Manager, City of Kent. "Class' Windows-based software is easy for staff to use and allows us to offer faster service to the citizens of Kent. Residents no longer have to wait while each bill or fee is processed manually or with separate software. One system at our Customer Service counter takes care of most fees."

"This is a significant advancement in local government payment processing," says Todd Holowchak, Director of CitiServe Consulting, Class Software Solutions. "City departments typically have either manual processes or specialized software systems for each of their departments such as utilities and permits, which are not designed to interact. Class and Kent have been able to introduce CitiServe Point of Sale and Payment Processing software, integrate them with Kent's existing systems and link them to the city's Customer Service department that manages finances."

Kent's Customer Service department is seeking the support of all city departments to expand the Class CitiServe integrated payment system to all five payment counters throughout city buildings. The goal is to be able to offer citizens fast, one-stop payment for all city services from any one location.

"We look forward to additional development of application interfaces and an even greater use of the overall system," says Vetsch. By implementing Class CitiServe integrated software, cities are able to standardize payment processes across the city and still benefit from their existing investment in best of breed back end systems.
Cash and audit control are improved with integrated debit/credit authorization and processing. Management control is enhanced with consolidated reporting, and training and support costs are reduced with the introduction of Microsoft certified desktop applications.
