The system also gathers information from the numerous host systems at the state, county and federal levels, according to Sue Farni, information technology director for Mobile. "We plan to use this system to access a variety of data sources, from arrest warrants to drivers' license histories to pending case information," she said.
"By ensuring that we can access the right data at the right time, we anticipate being able to cut our court case processing time in half. In addition, the technology will allow us to know quickly if a suspect has a criminal record or a warrant for arrest so we can get the most serious offenders off the street as soon as possible. "
The city plans to use the application to enhance communication with constituents by providing access to certain types of information online, such as upcoming court dates and the status of pending actions.
