Pennsylvania Issues Metadata Standards for Enterprise Systems

August 3, 2005 By

The state of Pennsylvania yesterday issued an information technology bulletin on metadata standards. "The purposes of this Information Technology Bulletin (ITB)," it said, "are to establish an enterprise policy ensuring the capture and maintenance of metadata and to establish minimum requirements for the specification and documentation of metadata for all enterprise systems development initiatives. The enterprise, as used in this ITB, is defined as all departments, boards, commissions, and councils under the Governor's jurisdiction. The Metadata Requirements document provides guidance to agencies on what must be provided."
