OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. - The county sheriff's department recently teamed with the United States Marshal's office to seize nearly $1.5 million worth of methamphetamine and put the perpetrators behind bars thanks to some nifty software.

The department received a call from the U.S. Marshal's Office requesting information regarding the location of a fugitive under federal indictment. Sheriff's Department Communications Officer Ken Auer was given approximately 20 phone numbers for which he was asked to produce information.

Auer used the Spillman technology to conduct a powerful search on each phone number. The search produced a connection between one of the phone numbers and the suspect the Marshal's Office was seeking.

The system produced links to every record associated with the suspect, including his last known address. Sheriff's units were sent to the address and found the methamphetamine, $16,000 in cash and later the suspect.
