On Wednesday, California CIO Teri Takai hosted a webinar on IT security. After describing California's IT landscape, Takai outlined the new plan for the Office of Information Security which included protecting the state's critical infrastructure and personally identifiable information, creating a 911 strategic plan and a disaster recovery plan.
Takai also talked about reaching out to areas of the state that are underserved and the need to promote new technologies and solutions for those areas.
Finally, Takai touched on what the state is doing to become more transparent. Transparency is essential for accountability and California government Web sites are putting more information online for the public to see.
The webinar will be available later this week, but until then, a PDF of the presentation can be found on the California OCIO Web site.
