A Robot That Flies Like a Bird

July 28, 2011 By

At the TedGlobal2011 conference held earlier this month in Edinburgh, Markus Fischer of German engineering firm Festo put on a remarkable demonstration of a robot bird that actually flies by mimicing the flight mechanics of an actual bird. Modeled on a seagull, Fischer astonished the audience by letting the SmartBird loose to soar throughout the auditorium. Check out this video from the TED event and be amazed.
