Earlier this week, the city of Miami and the Miami Police Department opened a new 112,264 law enforcement training center and high school. The new facility will provide for the training of law enforcement personnel as well as providing 500 high school students an academic emphasis on law studies, homeland security and forensics. In the 46,132 square feet dedicated to the high school, in addition to classrooms, lockers and dining facilities, students will have access to labs and a mock courtroom.

The $35.4 million price tag for the new facility was funded by the Homeland Defense Neighborhood Improvement Bond, School Board of Miami-Dade County, Impact Fees and Sunshine State Financing Commission, according to an MPD news release.
