NASCIO Releases Mobile Device Management Paper

"Many states have made substantial efforts and investments to encrypt the data on mobile devices and to further protect them through use of strong policies, physical controls and end-user education.

"This brief provides CIOs with needed guidance." -- Colorado CIO Mike Locatis (pictured)

The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) released its latest issue brief :today: Security at the Edge -- Protecting Mobile Computing Devices. "As the brief notes," said Colorado CIO and NASCIO Security and Privacy Committee co-chair Mike Locatis in a release, "many states have made substantial efforts and investments to encrypt the data on mobile devices and to further protect them through use of strong policies, physical controls and end-user education. Unfortunately, some states have had to make these investments in reaction to significant data breaches, and we would hope that other states can learn from these examples and act more proactively.  This brief provides CIOs with needed guidance in this area."
