NIC Co-Founder Retires, Former Tesla and Federal Government CIOs Join Board

NIC co-founder Ross Hartley has retired from the company board of directors. At the same time the board has added two new members.

NIC has released a statement announcing that one of the company's founders, Ross Hartley, has decided to retire from his position on the board of directors effective immediately.

"He is one of the two original founders of this company, and has been a driving force of our success," said Harry Herington, NIC CEO and chairman of the board, in the statement. "His wisdom and guidance will be missed, and we sincerely thank him for all of his many years of service to NIC."

The company also announced that it's increasing the size of its board from nine members to 10. Filling the resulting two open spots are Tony Scott and Jayaprakash Vijayan.

Scott is currently a senior advisor on data privacy and cybersecurity for the law firm Squire Patton Boggs and was the third CIO of the U.S. under Pres. Barack Obama. Vijayan is the former CIO of Tesla and current CEO and founder of Tekion.

"These gentlemen bring a wealth of IT experience to our board, and they both understand the importance of continuing to innovate and evolve as technology evolves — some of the mainstays of our organization since the beginning," said Herington in the statement.
