On May 14, government got its own Apple Watch app.

Launched by the Arkansas Information Consortium, a subsidiary of NIC, the Gov2Go Apple Watch app allows users to track Arkansas state government deadlines in a personalized calendar and receive reminders about things like property taxes and vehicle registration. NIC reports the app as government’s first for the trendy Apple Watch.

“Since the founding of our company, our single mission has been to harness the power of the latest technology to make government more accessible for everyone,” Robert Knapp, NIC chief operating officer, said in a press release. “We ... are innovating to see how new wearable technology can provide efficiencies in government interactions.”

The company reports that in coming months more Apple Watch apps will be released not only in Arkansas, but also Mississippi, Maryland and Texas. Gov2Go is also available for other Apple platforms and Android. More information can be found on the app’s official website at getgov2go.com.
