Dooley Wins Kentucky's Visionary Award

Former Kentucky Deputy CIO Steve Dooley was named the recipient of the Visionary Award in the 2009 Best of Kentucky Technology Awards.

Steve Dooley (pictured presenting last year's awards) was named the recipient of the Visionary Award in the 2009 Best of Kentucky Technology Awards. Over the years Dooley has served as Deputy CIO, Acting CIO and Interim Commissioner of the Commonwealth Office of Technology. The Commonwealth Office of Technology made the announcement, as well as announcing a number of other awards:

  • Best App Serving the Public: Kyleidoscope: Kyleidoscope is a network solution that improves access to historical Kentucky archival materials for the citizens, educators and students.
  • Most Innovative Use of Technology: MegaDEAF Conference 2009. A two-hour video conference that brought together deaf schools at the same time to view student designed and conducted presentations and activities.
  • Best Online Services: The Office of the Secretary of State has transformed itself over the last decade into an online service center -- one of the most frequently visited Web sites for a government agency in Kentucky.
  • Best IT Collaboration (two winners): Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) State Championship, Kentucky Dept of Education spans statewide and is a great collaborative effort between communities, schools, universities, vendors and state government. Commonwealth eScrap Initiative, Finance Cabinet, Environment and Energy Cabinet. This program was developed to identify and prioritize projects and investments with the greatest potential for energy efficiency, environmental stewardship and cost savings.
