The airport, along with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, announced Friday that the use of the Mobile Passport Control app will be accepted at BWI.
Available on Android and iOS devices, the app "currently offers U.S. citizens and Canadian visitors a more secure and efficient in-person inspection between the (Customs and Border Patrol) officer and the traveler upon arrival in the United States," the agency wrote in a statement.
"Eligible travelers submit their passport information and customs declaration form to (Customs and Border Patrol) via a smartphone or tablet app prior to arrival," the statement continued.
Those who use the application will not have to submit a paper customs declaration form upon arrival at the airport, cutting down on the time spent at the airport before the flight.
"Mobile Passport Control will help many of our international travelers speed through the arrivals process," said Ricky Smith, BWI's CEO.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, BWI is the 18th airport to accept the application since it launched as a pilot program at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in August 2014.
