Rhode Island government information and services are easier and quicker to find than ever before. The state's official Web site, RI.gov provides more than 170 online services with over 4,200 Web pages designed with a common look and feel and delivered lightning fast.

"RI.gov continues to respond to the public's need for immediacy, interactivity and community by integrating new services with the latest Web technology," said John E. Landers, Rhode Island CIO. "By embracing industry standards, RI.gov has maximized the speed in which information and services are presented without sacrificing usability. Rhode Islanders are getting more done, in less time."

Users can sign-up to have state agency news and events delivered to their e-mail inboxes. Download agency addresses and phone numbers to their desktops or PDAs with a single click. Select to receive information from more than 50 local, state and national RSS feeds. Track important government information and quickly add meetings and events to iGoogle, My Yahoo, Outlook or iCal using RI.gov Calendars.

Building on the popularity of the site's Online Communities, RI.gov added "Moving to Rhode Island" -- a how-to guide for new residents; "Informacion En Espanol" -- government information and services translated in Spanish by an actual person and not software; and "AccessAbility" -- a resource for Rhode Islanders with disabilities featuring a Web video hand-signed introduction by the director of the Commission on the Deaf & Hard of Hearing.

Users can find bike paths, schools, police stations, medical facilities, libraries and historic points in a neighborhood using Rhode Island Maps. Rhode Island Maps creates a helpful visual representation of services in a neighborhood and offers a new way for citizens to chart government and community.

RI.gov, first launched in 2001, receives an average of nearly 223,000 visits per month. Site traffic has increased 35 percent in 2007.
