911 Translation Tech Company Raises Seed Funding Round

Convey911, founded last year, pulled in an investment round led by a former CEO of Lexipol. The company provides both human and machine translation for 911 and other dispatch-type public services.

Convey911, a startup that helps emergency dispatchers speak to people in different languages, has raised a seed investment round.

The round — of an amount the company isn’t disclosing — will help the company expand in terms of both products and personnel, according to a press release. The technology allows operators of 911, including voice and text, plus 311 and the new 988 mental health crisis hotline, communicate in more than 350 languages. It functions as an add-on to existing dispatch tech.

“Lack of real-time access to interpreters for all languages, including Spanish, continues to be a problem for all verticals in the public safety sector,” said Convey911 Chief Revenue Officer and co-founder Lisa Reagan in the statement. “Long wait times and clunky workflows leave departments at risk. Convey911 is providing a full suite of communications and real-time translation tools built to meet the security and evidentiary requirements of public safety and law enforcement.”

It also provides the vertical location of 911 callers to dispatchers via a partnership with NextNav.

The seed round was led by Founder Works, the investment firm of former Lexipol CEO Alex Ford.

Convey911 was founded in 2022 and is headquartered in Baltimore.
