Accela Officially Announces Collaboration with Microsoft

The provider's cloud-based solutions will be hosted on Microsoft Azure.

Local and state gov tech provider Accela has officially announced its new partnership with Microsoft.

This partnership, which was first reported on by Government Technology back in June, will see Microsoft’s Azure hosting many of Accela’s civic tech solutions, touching on a wide range of functionalities such as planning, building and business licensing, among others.

In a press release Thursday, the company detailed what this means for Accela’s customers.

“Accela’s government customers will leverage Accela’s industry-focused solutions with Microsoft Azure. Customers will be hosted on Azure for a range of Accela Civic Solutions that include Planning, Building, Business Licensing, Service Request Management, Occupational Licensing, Environmental Health, and more,” the company wrote in its press release.

The company has a number of customers in city and state government using its cloud-based solutions. Through the collaboration, Accela’s customers will now have access to the infrastructure that comes along with Microsoft’s Azure platform. Essentially, these customers will be getting Accela’s market expertise with Microsoft’s heavy-duty tech capabilities.

It’s been a busy few months for Accela. The company’s CEO stepped down in June, which was the same month that Accela launched a pair of applications aimed at facilitating better government management of planning and building processes for residential and commercial construction. Those were the Accela Civic Application for Planning and the Accela Civic Application for Building.
