ProudCity is getting into payments. The company, which makes a suite of citizen service tools for local government, announced on June 14 the launch of a dedicated payment tool that can work into its other products. It runs on Stripe, an increasingly ubiquitous online payments platform whose customers include the likes of Salesforce and SAP.
In a blog post announcing the product launch, ProudCity suggested that local governments could use the payments tool for things like permits, parking tickets, registrations and taxes. According to the post, the tool complies with Payment Card Industry security standards and can be set up in less than a day.
The tool includes a back-end dashboard for monitoring transactions, report generation, scheduling and payment confirmation messaging. When used in conjunction with the company’s form creation tool, users can drag and drop a pre-formed payment field onto a Web page.
“Making online payments available and accessible not only streamlines government processes, but also makes the user experience much more delightful, leading to a stronger sense of confidence in public-sector leadership and services,” the blog post reads.
The company is also working on an application programming interface to let people explore a database showing what kind of Web presence local governments across the U.S. have.
