California-based Alteryx, which sells data analytics services to public agencies and other organizations, has beefed up its government technology offering via a move that reflects the need for better data security and analytics.

The company serves various types of public agencies, and now says that it has launched Alteryx Server-FIPS, described in a statement as “a version of its Server offering that is aligned with the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) for data security and computer systems.”

The server-based product is scalable and can be used for such tasks as “scheduling, sharing, and running apps and models created in Alteryx Designer-FIPS for others in the organization to leverage,” according to the statement. The new tool can help clients share and collaborate on workflows, macros and apps throughout organizations.

“With the launch of Alteryx Server-FIPS, we are doubling down on our enablement activities across the public sector with expanded access to secure analytics and a keen focus on building data literacy across the government workforce," said David Colberg, vice president of global government affairs and public policy at Alteryx, in the statement.

As the company put it in the launch announcement, analysts who work for local, state and federal agencies need more ability to make data-driven recommendations, and more access to automated analytic tools.

“Alteryx is meeting the public sector where they are with automated analytics, helping government agencies build data skills and get more done," said Nick Sinai, senior adviser at Insight Partners, an investor in Altryx, in the statement.

Indeed, Insight Partner George Mathew worked as president and COO of Alteryx, helping to guide the company’s initial public offering.
