First Arriving Splits Emergency Response Business in Two

The Richmond, Va.-based startup has spun off, in simple terms, its technology business from its creative business. The company focuses on local police and fire departments but also serves other municipal agencies.

First Arriving, a startup that offers digital signage, websites and marketing and communications services primarily to local police and fire departments, has spun off part of its business.

In so many words, the rearrangement will split the tech side away from the creative side. The digital signage and website-building component of the firm will now operate as a standalone business called First Arriving IO, while First Arriving LLC will handle marketing and branding, recruitment and retention and video production.

The two companies will have the same CEO, Dave Iannone, and a press release stated the pair will work “hand in hand to provide a seamless experience and full suite of services.”

“With the rapid adoption of SaaS tools and software across public safety and local government, from scheduling to incident response to inventory management to training, public safety is awash with alerts, dashboards and information feeds,” said Alex Ford, First Arriving IO’s chairman, in the statement. “It’s painful for agencies to sort out what matters most, leading to miscommunication and increasing public safety risk. First Arriving IO was designed in response to agency requests for help in cutting through the noise created by increasingly complex technical environments.”

The company’s digital signage is built with more than 100 integrations, according to its website, spanning from dispatch systems to mapping platforms to social media feeds. Websites and a mobile app to go along with those systems offer communications tools for First Arriving’s customers, which also include city governments, the private sector and nonprofits.
