Public Safety and Mapping Tech Firm RapidDeploy Raises $34M

The company has raised $87 million since its founding in 2013. Its technology helps emergency dispatch centers get a better fix on calls — and helps power the new 988 suicide prevention hotline.

Texas-based mapping and analytics provider RapidDeploy has raised $34 million, money that will go toward emergency dispatch tools and other areas.

Edison Partners led the funding, which brings to $87 million the total capital raised by RapidDeploy in four funding rounds. This fresh round also included GreatPoint Ventures, Morpheus Ventures, GM Ventures, Ericsson Ventures, Tao Capital Partners, Clearvision Ventures, Tau Ventures and Nedbank CIB.

The company, which launched in 2013, recently announced that its Radius Mapping tool, designed to fix a caller’s location and provide data to call receivers, will be used in South Carolina for the operation of the new 988 national suicide prevention hotline — among the newest markets for public safety technology.

RapidDeploy now has 10 statewide contracts and more than 1,500 emergency dispatch centers that use the company’s platform. Besides public safety, enterprise clients also buy RapidDeploy’s technology. That includes General Motors’ OnStar for its call centers.

“With this investment, we’ll be able to further our mission of saving lives by reducing response times,” said Steve Raucher, CEO and co-founder at RapidDeploy, in a statement. “This investment will help us serve our customers with proven experience in delivering tightly integrated mission-critical software to one of the most demanding industries in the United States.”

Along with Radius Mapping, RapidDeploy also sells a product called Eclipse Analytics, designed to “improve the efficiency of the entire 911 workflow,” according to the statement.
