New York’s best and brightest government leaders, agencies and departments received high honors at the 2013 Best of New York Awards during GTC East in Albany, N.Y.

The awards were presented by e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government and Government Technology, in partnership with the state of New York.

The annual Best of New York Awards program recognizes state and local government and education organizations for their outstanding contributions, best practices and works of distinction in information technology.

Public-sector leaders and agencies were recognized for their leadership and excellence in creating tech-savvy applications that promote transparency, efficiencies and citizen engagement.

“The state of New York is leading the way with technology innovation in open data, transparency and shared services,” said Todd Sander, executive director of the Center for Digital Government. “The Center is pleased to give these efforts the credit they deserve and congratulates all the winners.”

The winners are selected by a panel of state and local government chief information officers based on a set of criteria, including collaboration between agencies, innovative use of technology, energy sustainability, and benefits and improvement of services to citizens and government employees.
