Georgia Moves Toward a Plug-and-Play Cloud Platform

Dean Johnson, COO of the Georgia Technology Authority, addresses his state’s push to privatization and the addition of a multisource services integrator to orchestrate solutions.

In 2008, Georgia privatized its infrastructure and managed network services to IBM and AT&T. And over nearly the last seven years, the state has been building a consolidated infrastructure that Georgia Technology Authority customers essentially view as a private cloud. At the NASCIO mid-year conference in Alexandria, Va., Dean Johnson, chief operating officer for the Georgia Technology Authority, said the next step is to improve services through the use of a multisourcing services integrator. The third-party integrator will help the state manage the different independent vendors on the cloud platform, ensuring that Georgia has a flexible plug-and-play platform going forward.
