The online survey is open to all U.S. cities. Awards are based on five population classifications.

Top-ranked cities will receive the Digital Cities Survey award and will be honored at a reception during National League of Cities' annual conference Nov. 20-23, 2019 in San Antonio.
Based on the 10 key characteristics of a digital city, you answer narrative questions for each, provide brief descriptions and some links, and respond to check-box questions.
Consolidated city/county governments may select one survey in which to participate annually, either the Digital Cities Survey or the Digital Counties Survey conducted in the spring.
